Join us for a screening of “UNTAPPED,” a film by Workday in partnership with Executive Producers LeBron James and Maverick Carter of SpringHill Entertainment, and be part of the conversation that could reshape our state's workforce and economic future.
Returning October 29th
The release of UNTAPPED, a documentary by award-winning director Josh Kahn, is more than just a film—it's a call to action for America's workforce. Told through the experiences of six diverse young adults from low-income communities, UNTAPPED follows their journey through a rigorous skills-training program as they strive for a better future. The film also features insights from top CEOs and nonprofit leaders, highlighting the benefits of shifting towards skills-based hiring for individuals, companies, and the nation’s economy.
A largely untapped sector of talent in America is known as STARs—workers Skilled Through Alternative Routes—who make up 50% of the national workforce but face barriers to economic mobility due to the absence of a four-year degree. In Louisiana, over 1,000,000 STARs are affected, though the recent passage of HB566 is a positive step in removing degree requirements for many state jobs. On October 29th, the UNTAPPED screening will bring together Louisiana leaders and STARs to spark discussions on dismantling the "Paper Ceiling." All ticket proceeds will support local organizations, Steadfast Foundation and Baton Rouge Youth Coalition, dedicated to empowering untapped talent.
